Welcome to the Catalog Must Haves blog hop.

Hello my Crafty Stampers! I hope each of you are staying nice and cool this weekend. It’s a very warm 100 degrees here in Omaha. Good thing I am attending a Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator event in my craft room! It’s nice and cool down here!

This week’s hop is all about items from the catalog we demos feel you can’t do without. The options are endless, and I’m sure you’ll get lots of different opinions on what is a MUST HAVE item. For me, it’s simple. I think the item I couldn’t do without is Color Coach™. For this card, it gave me a triadic color combination. I started with Lost Lagoon and it showed me the two colors to either side of that to use for my card. I loved it because I hardly ever use those colors and it pulled me out of my comfort zone.

Ok, enough about my reasons for my card and onto the fun!

Making the card

Front of card

The card base is Lost Lagoon card stock (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″). The card stock strip behind the Basic White card front is the Coastal Cabana. The label frame is Pretty Peacock. I used the Lost Lagoon ink pad for the image on the Basic White card front, and Pretty Peacock on the sentiment. I added the Iridescent Striped Trim over the card front and card banner to give it a little extra something. The Pretty Peacock card frame is embossed using the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder.

For this card, I used two different stamp sets as the Peaceful View stamp set doesn’t have any sentiments. The sentiment comes from the Beautiful Motifs stamp set. It was so tempting to use the pretty textured stamps, but it wasn’t the look I was going for.

Looking inside the card

On the inside, I simply cut Basic White (5″ x 3 3/4″). I used a sheet of printer paper and punched out a 1 3/4″ circle to create a mask to place over my Basic White card stock. It was just the right size to stamp the little birdie image in the bottom right corner. A little portion of an image can go a long way on the inside of a card.
