Clear Block Stamping Technique Card

Welcome to the Clear Block Stamping blog hop with the Stamping with Friends hoppers.

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome to the Clear Block Stamping Challenge.

Today’s card is both a technique challenge and a product showcase in one! The new Sept – Jan quarterly catalog launched this week, so I used new Sunflower Fields Suite Collection for this card. Honestly, I was just waiting for an excuse to show it off! haha

This technique is one of my favorites for creating a background! Each background will be unique and fun. Add as many colors as you’d like, spritz with water and create a masterpiece!

Card Set Up

The card base is my standard 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. I used Daffodil Delight card stock for the base. Cut the Designer Series Paper as a backer for the watercolor paper. Next, take the Hydrangea Hue reinker and dropped about 5 or 6 drops around the top of the Clear Block F. I did mine sort of close together. Add the Peaceful Pine reinker to the bottom part. Remember, they need to sort of blend together once you spritz them. Spritz as much water as you’d like to get the look you want then pick up the block and move the inks around for that watercolor look.

Once you’re happy with it, set it down and grab your watercolor paper. I used 2 pieces. The first one soaked up most of the water and ink, the second is the one I used because I liked the lighter look to it.Y’all, there is no right look. Do it as many times as you like to get the background that will be best for that card. Save the other attempts for other cards.

Next, for the sunflowers and sentiment, stamp 2 of them on Basic White card stock with VersaMark and heat emboss them with Bronze embossing powder. Color the flowers in with your Darling Duckling blends, highlighting the edges with the darker blend. Die cut them out. Die cut out the stems from the Peaceful Pine card stock. Finally, die cut the flower pots out of the DSP.

To finish off the card, add one flower and pot straight to the watercolor paper. Add the other flower and pot using dimensionals. Add the sentiment banner using dimensionals as well. Don’t forget the bling! Add your Antique Pearls where you like, and you’re done!

I love this DSP so much, I want to show if off a little more. The Basic White sentiment card stock is placed on top of the DSP, framing it up nicely. I stamped some of the sunflowers on the back of the front cover. Unfortunately, I did it after I added all the dimensionals on the front! haha Next time, I’ll have to think that one through a bit better.

Have fun trying out this technique and making a one of a kind masterpiece.

See y’all next week with a brand new challenge. I hop you enjoy the rest of the projects in the hop this week!
