A week or so ago, I made a card using only the blobby stamps from a few different stamp sets. The goal was to try to recreate a painting I saw at my doctor’s office. I loved how it turned out, so I thought I’d see what it would look like if I used the Butterfly Brilliance die set as a stencil and embossed with the same stamp sets. It really turned out much prettier than I expected.

First, I took the die and made a stencil on scrap paper. I used some old washi tape and held it in place as I used the first stamp to VersaMark several places on the stencil. The first time around with that stamp, I was a bit reserved. I didn’t want to overdo one color before I could do all three embossing powders. I embossed in the silver first. I used the same stamp for the gold embossing powder, and chose another stamp for the copper. I wanted there to be a little different effect for the final color. I stamped one of the die cut butterflies with Daffodil Delight, then embossed the sentiment on top of it. It really was pretty simple, but getting the butterflies completely embossed to get the images as sharp as possible did take some time. It was therapeutic though.

I added the finished Basic White embossed card front to the Gold Foil Sheet, then added it to the Daffodil Delight card base. I finished the card with the die cut butterfly. I hope that Stampin’ Up! creates more large dies like this. I want to do this again with new images! 😀
