Welcome to the Gatefold Card Challenge blog hop.

Hello my Crafty Stampers! Can you believe it’d already July?! It feels like the older I get, the quicker time goes. However, I’m at an age were I need time to slow the heck down! I guess the old saying that time is wasted on the young is so true!

For this week’s blog hop, we we challenged to make a Gatefold card. I love this fold, only I have a terrible time getting them completely lined up. Doesn’t matter how much I plan it out, one side or the other is always longer than the other. I figured out the best way to fix it was to use the Simply Score Scoring Tool (it in the Online Exclusives now). It makes it easier to line up the cardstock nice and straight.

Let’s take a look at how I made this card!

Gatefold card Creation

Front of card

I began with the Highland Heather card base. The card base is folded at 2 1/8th” and at 6 3/8ths” and a bone folder is used to crease the edges inward.

I used the Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper for the front folds of the card. Whisper White is used for the 3 die cut circles. I stamped all three images then used dies pointed out in the image below.

For the butterfly image, I stamped the butterfly in black, then used my blender pen to color in the body with Highland Heather, starting from the inside towards the wings. With the flower image, I colored the image with the Stampin’ Write™ Highland Heather and Shaded Spruce markers, then I used the Blender Pen to pull the color through the images. The largest circle was added first to the left fold of the card using dimensionals. Be sure to check your placement of the dimensionals so they won’t overlap onto the other side of the card, sealing it shut. I added the 2nd and 3rd circles to the top of the 1st circle also using dimensionals.

I added Itty Bitty Bokeh mix sequins using Multipurpose Glue. be sure to use your Take You Pick tool to pick them up and place them. They have a tendency to cling to your fingers, otherwise.

Looking inside the card

Inside the card, I used more of the DSP I used for the cover of the card on the edges and for the center I used Whisper White stamped with the leaf image from the stamp set.

From time to time, I like stepping outside of my comfort zone. Doing fun folds isn’t my normal style, but I loved making this card! I can’t wait to see the other Demos cards to get more inspiration. Make sure you hop along with me and leave a trail of comments behind you.
