Hey my Crafty Friends! It’s Make Something Beautiful Challenge – January time. I know its a little close to the end of the month, but this month just got away from me. I know y’all understand how that goes.
This card was a labor of love, truly. I spent about 2 hours conceptualizing it and putting my creation to paper. The hardest part was figuring out where the stamp was for the die! Y’all, I pulled the catalog out and everything. Come to find out, it die cut out the Designer Series Paper that goes with the suite. It’s gorgeous, but that was a challenge in itself!
For this card, I actually did two card bases, trimming the Blushing Bride card stock down about 1/8″. I don’t like the glue showing through the vellum, so next time I might just cut the Blushing Bride and place it over the front inside portion. It wouldn’t be a much of a wow factor, but it would hide the yucky glue.
I used the Deckled Rectangle Dies for the sentiment. I normally just use them for a border for my card fronts, but I loved the ripped edge effect it gives. Sometimes, I like my cards to look a little more rustic.
Once I die cut the front of the Basic Black, I added an adhesive sheet to the back of the DSP from the Abigail Rose package and die cut the images after lining them up. I closed the card and stuck the flowers and leaves in the openings and just let the adhesive sheets to their thing. Next, I added the Vellum card stock. Because the Basic Black card stock was a little flimsy, I added glue the Vellum on to make it sturdy. Not my favorite move, but it needed to be done. Then, I stamped a flower on the Basic White card stock in the center, added my butterflies and I was done.
I have a family member who is not in the best of health, so this card will be going out today to her. Have you made your Make Something Beautiful Challenge – January? If so, add it to my Facebook Business Page so we can all make a fuss over it!
