I’m always at a loss for masculine cards. Even with some of the masculine stamp sets, I have a hard time getting them designed and manly enough. I needed a masculine grad card, and was struggling to design one with this specific person in mind. When I opened the Come Sail Away with Me Memories and More Card set, I knew it would be perfect for making masculine cards for all kinds of men.
I think the sentiment on the front says everything for a young man about to take on the world. The grand adventure of life should be seen for all it has to offer. When we set sail, we think its going to be as easy as pointing the boat in the right direction and as long as we have fuel and wind for our sail, we’ll be fine. Then, the storms arise and we have to learn the strategies for counter balancing for the wind and waves. We have to learn when it’s time to ask for help, and when we need to dock for our own safety. It takes perseverance and determination, but once we get the hang of it, the rewards are worth the effort.
For this card, I took one of the 4×6 memory cards and cut it down to a 5/12 x 3 1/4. I then used the Come Sail Away DSP and just cut strips big enough to show on top and bottom. I adhered them to the base using Snail. I cut two 6″ pieces of the Night of Nave/Sahara Sand bakers twine and made a sailors know, threading a Sail Away Trinket Anchor in the middle, and snailed them on the back of the cut down 4×6 card. Next, I used dimensionals to affix the card front to the card base. I found two stickers from the card pack that I really liked for the sentiment, the green anchor and the “Here’s to making every moment count statement.
I added two sentiments to the inside and a stamped sail boat from the Sailing Home stamp set. I’ll be stamping a sail boat on the envelope as well, since you can’t have a naked envelope!
