Welcome to the Paper Strips Challenge blog hop.

Hey there fellow crafting buddies! I hope this post finds you happy and healthy. August is in full swing and so is the heat and humidity! How many of you are sending kids back to school this week? Feels weird with for them to go back before the first cold snap. At least there’s no risk of snow days yet!

For the hop this week, we were challenged to use paper strips to make our projects. I have so many open packs of Designer Series Paper that I’ve barely used, so I love when we have to make it our main focus. I love the black and white themed cards, so I went with the Botanical Textures Designer Series Paper for this hop.

Paper Strip Card

For the card front, I layered 5 strips of Designer Series Paper (DSP) onto a 4 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ sheet of Basic White. Three strips are 1″ and the other two are 1/2″ and they are cut from one sheet of DSP. I used both side of the sheet to give the card a more textured look. That card front was then glued to the card base. I stamped the butterfly and sentiment and die cut them out.

To give some glam to the card, I added some Wink of Stella to the butterfly and sentiment.

To add a little fun to this card, I added this action wobble to the butterfly to make it dance on the card!

To continue the theme on the inside of the card, I cut one of the 1/2″ strips in half and followed the same pattern that I used on the front of the card! For some extra fun, I added the butterfly to the inside so it would tie in with the card front.

Pass it on

School has started or is about to start. These would be great cards to have on hand for the occasional note to the teacher or thank you card for the special person who makes a difference in your kids life. Just change the sentiment and this card is great for any occasion or event! No kids at home, make these for your hair stylist or nail tech. How special would they feel getting a dancing butterfly card?!
