Stamping with Friends Blog Hop

Blog hop image

Hey there My Crafty Friends!
Well, as seems to be par for the course, I have been MIA for our blog hops, thanks to life kicking my tail. I’m praying that things have finally fallen into place, so the need for long absences should be over.

December is a really high stress month, so in order to relax, let’s take a moment and focus on something that makes us happy…. handmade cards! Us crafters love a good card, and a good slider card is even better. At least, it is to me! haha

For our blog hop, we are doing Retiring items from the 2022 July – December Mini catalog. I have loved the little penguins from the Penguin Place stamp set and the adorable Penguin Punch. Seeing that this is the second time they were in a winter catalog, I was thrilled to get to play with them again. It has been fun seeing what kind of trouble I can get them into, and this card was no different.

I wanted the card to have a fun winter feel, so I took my sliding penguin and I made him really slide…. right into his buddy sitting at the bottom of the hill. This card just makes me giggle as I can see both my grandsons doing just this.

To make sure I got the slide perfectly lined up with the hill stamp, I double stamped the image above it. Next, I took my snips and used the edge to cut the space out trying to get it as close to the edge without loosing my image on the bottom.

I cut out the two top rows, to make sure the scissors would fit into the space without crushing the main image. You need the space wide enough to fit a large dimensional between the penguin and the penny put on the back. Make sure you check your entire opening to ensure the dimensional will slide smoothly the whole way.

Add a few dimensionals along the edge of the opening, far enough back that they won’t bump into your penny. This will keep the proper spacing between both Basic White card stocks to keep the slider from binding up. Next, add the dimensionals to the corners of the card front, making sure they are far enough back to not show on the edges of the card.

I taped my background Basic White card stock to my Balmy Blue card base, adding the card front on top of that and tested my slider. Happily, it worked the way it was supposed to! I love when that happens!

Now that you’ve seen my card, it’s time to hop over to Susan’s blog to see what they are showing off before it goes away! Have a great day and we hope to see you again very soon!!

Stay Crafty, Friends!
